We do find ourselves in a critical position seeking new members for our Committee this year. Our long serving Chairman and Secretary had had to retire from active duties earlier this year due to ill health, the vice-chairman/acting chairman (myself) is leaving Romsey to live elsewhere and our acting secretary is also retiring due to personal reasons.
The Woodley Village Hall itself has had an excellent year, it remains popular with all sorts of local groups, is very busy, and is financially self-supporting. But all this counts for nothing if we cannot attract volunteers from the local community to take an interest in running it.
I am therefore appealing to all our regular users and supporters to pass the word and help us find new blood for the management committee. Although important, the role is not too time-consuming and I'd be happy to respond to anyone interested and explain more about the function and work of the Management Committee.
Please contact Andrew Marshall at firstname.lastname@example.org and/or please do come along to the AGM if you are interested
LATEST NEWS is that our new front porch has now been installed. It is a new oak-framed structure, supplied and erected by Knightwood Oak. The frontage of the Hall has been improved generally, with new paving, signage and landscaping. This project has been generously funded by the Romsey Extra Parish Council.
Previously we have completed renovation of the side rooms. The Crampmoor Room has been extended and refitted, with new flooring, furniture and storage. Soundproof doors have been installed between the side rooms and the main hall so that they can be used at the same time. The Crampmoor Room also now has a fully operation loop system
The recently renovated Ganger Room is available for smaller meetings and has an adjoining WC and its own kitchenette unit. New tables and chairs have been provided.
Our next project is to make improvements to the kitchen. Planning is at an advanced stage. We hope to submit applications for funding soon.
